The Monarch Makeover: How We’ve Upgraded Eagle Grove

Published: October 22nd 2026

At Monarch Investment and Management Group, maintaining and improving our communities is a top priority. After we acquired Eagle Grove in April 2026, our team immediately went to work to revamp the space, enhance the grounds, expand the amenities available, and make it an even better place to live!

There are still big projects underway, but some of the most important renovations and upgrades are complete.  We’d love to share a little about our journey with you!

Cozy Winters Ahead Thanks to a New Roof

The apartment renovation process typically begins with any major structural or system issues. An aging roof is a major concern. Anyone who’s spent a winter in West Michigan knows how cold it can get and how quickly snow can accumulate. The roof at Eagle Grove was certainly showing signs of age and wear when we acquired the property.

We replaced the roof, which makes our building more attractive to our residents and their guests. The new roof will also help keep heating and cooling costs reasonable while protecting our residents and their possessions from the potential damage caused by leaks.

An Improved Parking Experience

Michigan winters aren’t just hard on roofs (and residents). They also wreak havoc on outdoor paved surfaces. Melting snow trickles down into tiny gaps, causing issues when it freezes and expands. Freezing and thawing repeatedly can cause pavement to weaken or crumble. Snow plows can physically damage the pavement. Salt and other chemicals used to melt snow and ice can also degrade the pavement. After years of hard winters, even the best parking lots start to break down. The parking lot here at Eagle Grove certainly showed signs of age and weather-related wear, so improvements were clearly needed!

We’ve begun the process of refinishing the parking lot for a smoother drive (and fresher appearance). We are also expanding the parking lot to add more spaces, ensuring that our residents and their guests have ample off-street parking. Coming home and heading out for your day are easier now, thanks to our parking lot improvements.

A New Look in Our Community Spaces

Previously, Eagle Grove’s entryway and dining area had dated colors, worn carpet, and well-used furniture. It wasn’t in disrepair, but it was very dated and not particularly welcoming. The lobby is where Eagle Grove makes its first impression, so we fully modernized the space.

We modernized a lobby and turned the obsolete dining hall into an expansive resident lounge, with everything from new seating to an upgraded coffee bar! From new color schemes and flooring to fresh paint and modern furniture, we completely overhauled the main community spaces to make them as inviting as possible. We also added new furniture to the front patio area to create more space for residents to socialize outside in our beautiful, park-like setting!

A Brand-New Fitness Center

Fitness centers are among the most desirable amenities that an apartment community can provide residents. They eliminate the need for a costly gym membership, help residents stay healthy, and even encourage people to meet their neighbors as they exercise together. Previously, Eagle Grove had a small and disorganized exercise space that didn’t inspire people to commit to their workout schedules.

Our team noticed a dead-end space previously used as an underutilized public area attached to the main lobby that was perfect for a fitness center. We erected a glass wall to allow light in while still creating a bit of privacy and an intentional division of the space. Then, we replaced the flooring, repainted the walls, installed exercise equipment, and mounted multiple televisions so residents can stay entertained and engaged during a long cardio workout. Residents now have a private, bright, clean space in which to work on their fitness goals.

In-Home Improvements

While the common areas of an apartment community are important to resident happiness and satisfaction, the living spaces are the most important consideration when renovating a community. Apartment upgrades are part of how Monarch improves the communities we manage. Updating all of the apartments in a community with 131 separate 1- and 2-bedroom homes takes time, but we’ve made excellent progress so far!

The upgrades include installing wood-style vinyl plank flooring in living spaces, installing new lighting fixtures, and making the spaces feel more modern and inviting with fresh, neutral paint colors. We’re even installing dishwashers in select homes. A newly-renovated apartment at Eagle Grove looks fresh, clean, and inviting.

Wood-style vinyl plank flooring is easy to clean and maintain. It doesn’t pose the same challenges as traditional hardwood floors for upkeep but isn’t a trap for dust and liquid spills like carpeting is either. Cleaning up after a spill or a pet accident is an easy task when the floor is vinyl plank. It’s a very convenient and attractive flooring option that our residents generally love!

The upgrades don’t stop there. We’ve also begun updating select 2-bedroom homes to add in-home laundry. For those who don’t have in-home laundry, there are still our on-site laundry rooms! You won’t need to spend hours at the laundromat when you live at Eagle Grove.

Improvements Will Continue!

While the major renovations in the community areas, including the lobby, lounge, and fitness center, are complete, other projects will be ongoing for some time. Residents can look forward to continued investments in the community that will improve their overall quality of life. We will also continue renovating individual homes as availability allows.

We have several more projects in the planning stages, so keep an eye on our blog, social media pages, and community newsletters to see what changes over the next few years! Our on-site team is fully dedicated to making Eagle Grove one of the best places to come home in West Michigan, and our Monarch team is hard at work supporting the vision!

A move to Eagle Grove means enjoying a well-maintained 1 or 2-bedroom home in a community that has a truly ideal location in the popular Alger Heights neighborhood. We’re on Kalamazoo Avenue, between 28th Street and Alger Street. Our property abuts MacKay-Jaycees Park, so there’s space to walk your dog or stretch your legs. We’re less than half a mile from Meijer and a short drive to the 131 on-ramp on 28th Street. Despite the convenient location, we’re proud of our park-like setting.

If you want to live in a newly renovated apartment close to the best of Alger Heights and Grand Rapids, our community might be the place for you. Schedule a tour with our professional leasing team and discover for yourself why Eagle Grove Apartments is the perfect place to land!
